  Aldi - wrongfully accusing an 81 year old grandmother of being a shoplifter causing her great distress in the Motherwell store yesterday is poor. An out-sourced security guard announcing loudly that “your barred” in the front foyer at Christmas in a store she uses twice a week in a town she has lived and worked for 40 years is degrading. A badly trained security guard with no evidence, no proof, no CCTV, no respect and no compassion to deal with the situation tactfully (in what was a case of mistaken identity) leaving a decent women’s reputation in tatters is just shocking. The fact the shop manager immediately took the side of security guard without checking any of the facts is unforgivable. The follow up phone call and apology was lip service Aldi - you should be ashamed.

  Good prices & choices. Element of luck as to what's available. However, some things they don't stock. On site easy access toilet. The security guard has a SERIOUS personal hygiene issue. I've witnesed people leave the store, leaving items unpurchased due to his offensive odour. Easily resolved by shower gel, antiperspirant deodorant & a washing machine. Meanwhile - 1 star.
